Brian Carrico
Assistant to the Online Principal
As Assistant to the Online Principal, Brian Carrico coordinates the application and enrollment processes for 3-12thgrade. Previous to his current role, Mr. Carrico spent several years of his life in the software development world. He has been a software developer, IT Project Manager and has worked at UTSA in administration and as a contract teacher. He also helped to develop online tests at Harcourt Educational Measurement. He has traveled extensively during his lifetime. He spent 10 years in the USAF working in nuclear science. Mr. Carrico has served in the ministry twice as a music minister. He has earned a bachelor's degree in Divinity and a master's degree in Ministry. Brian is committed to helping families in the online admissions process to embrace a strong Christ-centered education.
Marc Hartline
Bible Teacher
Marc Hartline spent fifteen years teaching Bible and math as well as being athletic director and coaching sports in Connecticut, Texas, and Mississippi. He was the head of the science department at North Florida Christian School in Tallahassee, Florida for 12 years and has been an online teacher since 2010. He has also focused on coaching high school sports and sponsoring the Key Club as a community outreach. After receiving his second master’s degree, Mr. Hartline became the assistant principal at the Juvenile Justice Detention School. He was in charge of the Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and reentry meetings with school systems throughout the state of Florida. He also directed the GED program. Mr. Hartline earned a double major in education and Bible from Baptist Bible College in 1991. He has also earned two master’s degrees from Liberty University, one in Theology (2012) and one in Special Education (2016). Mr. Hartline is a lifelong learner and is presently also a Bible teacher at Cornerstone Christian School in San Antonio, Texas. He enjoys teaching and desires to partner with students to help them achieve success!
Tara Johnson
Math 9-12
Mrs. Johnson lives in San Antonio, TX, and attended UTSA where she received a B.A. in the Science of Mathematics. One of her colleagues awarded her the "Most Fascinating Woman of the Year.” Mrs. Johnson has been with CCS Online since 2009 and has taught in the public and private sector for over ten years. Mrs. Johnson has a passion for working with teens and has volunteered with the refugees here in San Antonio for four years and loves teaching all levels of mathematics. Her passion is to help students learn math while strengthening their personal relationships with Christ.
Rachel Keeney
History 9-12
Mrs. Keeney is from the Tulsa, Oklahoma, area and has been teaching in Christian schools since 1997. She has experience teaching elementary school, middle school, and high school both online and in a physical classroom. She is an Oklahoma certified teacher with a bachelor’s degree in education from Oklahoma Baptist University, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Oral Roberts University. She has served on school accreditation teams, been a curriculum director, and helped to start a Christian school. Mrs. Keeney has been blessed to serve doing teacher training in several countries throughout Latin America. She currently teaches high school history part time at a local Christian school. Mrs. Keeney enjoys learning about history, traveling, and running.
Rachel Marten
Elementary Teacher
Miss Marten is from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Oral Roberts University. She was a first grade teacher at Bixby North Elementary in Bixby, OK before transitioning to become the Early Childhood Pastor over both church campuses at The Assembly in Broken Arrow. As she has worked with children for over eight years, she has grown in her passion to see children discover their purpose through learning and through their relationship with Jesus. She loves spending any extra time with her family, especially her niece and nephew.
Janet Spear
English 7-12, Speech Communications
Before joining the Cornerstone Online team in 2012, Mrs. Spear taught English at Victory Christian School in Tulsa, OK, for 13 years followed by teaching online for the Oral Roberts University eAcademy since 2007. She was the high school department chairperson at Victory for 12 years and was the National Honor Society sponsor for eight years. Mrs. Spear is experienced in English curriculum, having implemented an English pre-AP program and AP program. Mrs. Spear earned her bachelor’s degree from ORU and is an Oklahoma certificated teacher, qualified to teach Grammar and Composition, American and British Literature, and World Literature in grades seven through twelve.
Jeremy Sutterfield
All Science 7-12, High School Physical Fitness
Jeremy Sutterfield graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Meteorology in 2001. He has taught science and math in public and private schools since 2003. He enjoys many facets of academia and has taught Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Calculus, Algebra II, Bible Courses, and Engineering over his time in education. In addition to teaching, Mr. Sutterfield spends time coaching basketball and serving in his church.
Nicole Wells
Technology Courses 9-12, History 7-8, Elementary 3-6 Overflow
Mrs. Wells earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Oklahoma State University. She also obtained her Master of Arts Degree in Education at Oral Roberts University. She has taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts since 2008 at Victory Christian School and has served as the unit leader for the middle school English department for many years. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, and spending time with family.
Melissa Whewell
Spanish
Melissa Whewell earned her B.A. in Spanish from the University of Texas at San Antonio and has served at Cornerstone Christian Schools for the past eight years, seven of which have been as a Spanish teacher. During her time at Cornerstone, she has developed her skills in the teaching of foreign language strategies ranging from the traditional methods and the integration of newer philosophies such as TPRS and technology integration.
Melissa enjoys teaching at CCS as it gives her the opportunity to grow and prepare students for 21st century skills as well as preparing students for the world through teaching of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mrs. Whewell is continuing her education as she currently pursues her Master's degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in Bicultural Bilingual Education with Certification in Biliteracy. She is happy to join the teaching staff at CCS Online and is very excited to expand her knowledge. She looks forward to this new challenge!
Karie Williams
Health (all levels), Elementary 3-8
Mrs. Williams was born in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Her father was in the military, so she enjoyed moving around and going to new places. She graduated from the University of Texas in San Antonio and taught 7th and 8th grade math at Cornerstone Christian School. After having a son, she started working with CCS Online in 2005. Aside from working part time at Christians United for Israel, she enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.
